Joy Hardy is a musician, teacher, singer-songwriter of contemporary Christian music.
First and foremost, I believe that music is meant to be heard and shared, so that is the purpose of my page – it is simply a way for me to get information to you so that I can share my music with you. I hope you enjoy it 🙂
“My music was conceived in – and is an expression of – life, love, and faith. It offers hope, inspiration, and encouragement”. Joy Hardy
Here is my story:
Raised in Walterboro, SC, I have been singing since the age of 5 in choirs and choruses, in churches and in school, then later in college, doing occasional solo performances along the way. I began formal vocal training at the age of 17 and continued throughout college.
After college, I put my musical endeavors on hold to pursue a career as a high school English teacher. I spent a few years concentrating my efforts on teaching and raising my two children before resuming my musical pursuits. Having moved to Goose Creek, SC, I began studying voice again with June Bonner and singing in the choir at Peace Presbyterian Church. It wasn’t until after I joined the praise team at my church that I became interested in writing my own music. I was surrounded by some very talented musicians, one of whom, Noel DeLisle, inspired and encouraged me to try my hand at composing. In 2007, I wrote my first song. After sharing the lyrics and melody with Noel, our collaboration produced the song known as “My Faith”.
In the weeks that followed, Noel introduced a number of songs he had written that he felt would complement my voice and range. Those songs, along with some of my subsequent compositions and some pieces Noel and I co-wrote, can now be found on my CD entitled “Willow”. “Willow” is available for purchase on itunes, and CDBaby, as well as many other websites.
I continue to sing in the praise band at Peace Presbyterian Church in Goose Creek and to write music. I hope to begin recording another CD in the near future and plan to follow my passion for music wherever it takes me 🙂
